Status and Role at Montreal Heart Institute (ICM): Cardiologist
Profile
After earning his medical degree from the University of Montreal, Dr. Dupuis completed his internship at McGill University, followed by another doctorate in Experimental Medicine at the same institution. He subsequently specialized in Internal Medicine and then in Cardiology at the University of Sherbrooke. Since 1994, he has practiced as a cardiologist at the Montreal Heart Institute, where he established a laboratory for both fundamental and applied research. Dr. Dupuis has climbed through all levels of the Fonds de recherche en santé du Québec (FRQS) career researcher program and was awarded a National Researcher Scholarship.
Dr. Dupuis’s research focuses on the study of pulmonary circulation and its alterations in pulmonary hypertension. The goal of his research is to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the disease and to develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Since 2008, he has been working on the development of novel patented molecules for molecular imaging of the pulmonary circulation, as well as new therapies targeting pulmonary hypertension, particularly in association with heart failure.
Additionally, Dr. Dupuis is the director of the Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Research Group (MVP), which he founded in the spring of 2017. This group aims to develop new treatments and diagnostic procedures for Group II pulmonary hypertension. Since its inception, numerous innovative clinical and preclinical projects have emerged, involving over 20 researchers from various clinical and fundamental disciplines.
